This picture shows the differences in exposure. When the object is underexposed, the image looks dark but when it is overexposed, the image looks too bright and white. By changing both the shutter speed and the aperture, one can change the exposure of an image. One can also do this by changing the exposure from 0 to -1 (underexpose) or to +1 (overexpose). When the number gets further away from 0, the exposure changes more.
